Numerous
celebrations and activities took place in 2008 to mark 200 years of Moore’s
world-famous
Irish Melodies.
These included a competition for young singers at the NCH in January
08, an
extensive
touring concert schedule, the production of an exhibition mounted at
the Royal Irish
Academy
in summer 2008, a reduced version of which became the travelling exhibition (7 venues over 6
months) and
the launch of the exciting new Thomas Moore Hypermedia Archive at a conference held at NUI Galway in November 08.
Also, the much-anticipated results of a
world-premiere recording project of all 124 Moore songs
was launched in December as a 6 CD box set. Further issues will be on single CDs.
This year, the Thomas Moore Festival will tour to the USA, where we look forward to bringing the magic of Moore
to a broader audience across the waters. Please contact us if you'd
